Director and scriptwriter Emmanuel Borlaza, contradicted Cherie Gil’s claim. According to an article published by the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), Borlaza claims that the classic line originally came from him. He also clarifies that Cherie Gil delivered the line brillliantly, thus leaving an impact on the viewer’s minds.

Borlaza also states that he’s willing to testify for Viva Films and stand for the truth. “Kahit ilibing nila ako bukas nang buhay, iyon ang katotohanan,” stresses Borlaza. The late award-winning scriptwriter, Orlando Nadres originally wrote the screenplay of Bituing Walang Ningning’s film version.
