Maine Mendoza bested veteran actress Nova Villa and award-winning actress Iza Calzado to win the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Supporting Actress category in the Awards Night held last Sunday (December 27, 2015) at the KIA Theater in Quezon City.
After bagging the Best Supporting Actress award for her first ever movie appearance, Maine’s most recent recognition drew mixed reactions from netizens.

Some were saying that Maine doesn’t deserve the title and still needs to undergo some workshop, while others congratulated her and sent their utmost support to the actress.
On Monday (December 28, 2015), Maine seemed to anticipate the reaction of the people and jokingly shared her thoughts on her Twitter account saying:
“Bago pa ako ibash ng sambayanan, mauuna na ako.. Bakit ako? Pero maraming salamat po! Magandang umaga sa lahat!”
