Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova will be playing for Philipppines Team in the upcoming opening of the International Premier Tennis League.
Sharapova will be joining Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Carlos Moya, Kirsten Flipkens, Daniel Nestor and our very own Treat Huey to form the Manila Mavericks team.
They are up against different teams also composing of past and present great tennis players. The Singapore Slammers will have Serena Williams, Andre Agassi, Tomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, Nick Kyrgios, Daniela Hantuchova, Bruno Soares and Patrick Rafter.
Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras, Gael Monfils, Ana Ivanovic, Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna and Frabrice Santoro completes the Team Indian Aces.
While The UAE Royals will have the world number one Novak Djokovic, together with Caroline Wozniacki, Richard Gasquet, Nenad Zimonjic, Janko Tipsarevic, Goran Ivanisevic, Malek Jaziri and Eugenie Bouchard.
The traditional scoring for the said tournament is changed to single-set no-ad scoring which will speed up the games and will expose the fans to up to 24 different players in one evening.
The International Premier Tennis League is to be held at the MOA Arena on November 28-30.
The overall champion for the tournament will get most of the total pot of $1 million.
Tickets will be on sale starting today, September 1, 2014 with General Admission starting at Php 2,500 and VIP tickets is at Php 49,000.
