“Eat Bulaga” host Joey de Leon went trending recently after he drew flak from netizens over his controversial statement regarding depression.
In a recent episode of the “Eat Bulaga” segment “Juan for All, All for Juan”, the cast of the show visited the house of a viewer who is diagnosed with depression. The hosts then started talking about the mental illness. Joey then stated that it is just a made-up diagnoses by people and is not real. He said, “‘Yung depression, gawa-gawa lang ng mga tao iyan. Gawa nila sa sarili nila.”

Maine Mendoza even contradicted her co-host’s opinion saying, “Hindi siya joke. Hindi kase siyempre maraming nakakaranas ng ganoon lalo na sa mga kabataan. Kaya dapat kapag mayroong nakakaranas ng ganoon, bigyan natin ng suporta.”
However, Joey still insisted that it is not true and to not support the victims. He stated, “Hindi, huwag niyo suportahan. Gawa-gawa lang nila iyon.”
