Obama then cancelled the meeting with the Duterte. The Philippine president has then apologized for his outlandish comment and said that the two countries are set to reschedule their talks.
In a report published by GMA News from Reuters, Democratic Party’s Clinton said that Obama made the right decision to cancel the scheduled bilateral meeting with Duterte in Laos.
“We have a lot of ties between the United States and the Philippines. And I think it’s very important that we have a relationship, but there has to be a certain level of respect that is expected on both sides,” she said, speaking to reporters as she was flying to Florida to campaign.
