Abu Sayyaf claims responsibility for Davao market bombing

The Abu Sayyaf group claimed responsiblity for the night market explosion in Davao City late night of Friday (September 2, 2016). The explosion killed 14 people and injured more than 60 people.

President Rodrigo Duterte who was in Davao visited the area and declared a “state of lawlessness.”

The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) both condemn the deadly explosion and vowed to support President Duterte in its fight against the Abu Sayyaf.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said the security in the city has been intensified to prevent such incident from happening again.
