Fashion designer Veejay Floresca allegedly denied entry to Valkyrie club

Fashion designer Veejay Floresca was denied entry to Valkyrie Club due to their “no crossdresser policy”. On her Facebook page, Veejay narrated what happen to her on the night of June 13, 2014:

“I don’t like ranting on Facebook, but I think this issue needs to be solved. Last night, I went to Valkyrie with a friend. I was on guest list. When I was about to get in, the bouncer refused to let me in because according to dress code policy, they don’t allow cross dresser. I smiled and showed them my California State ID. I said “I’m female. I don’t live here, im from California.” The bouncer apologized and allowed me to get inside. In my 3 years of living in the U.S. This never happened to me. To the people of Valkyrie, please have an open mind and understanding.”

It seems the unfortunate incident has reached the attention of Uptown BGC Owners as a meeting will take place on June 29, 2015. In a Facebook post by Geena Rocero :

TransPinay/TransPinoy Filipinos. The meeting with Valkyrie, the Palace, Uptown BGC Owners and Board members Tim Yap and Neil Arce got moved to June 29 (supposed to happen on June 20th, but they postponed). Thank You to sister Divine Lee for being an ally on this to talk about the problematic “No CrossDresser Policy” at the Club .Just wanted to update the community who’s been following this important dialogue Trixie Maristela Veejay Floresca Dindi Tan Kate Montecarlo Cordova Patricia Montecarlo Marcel Delos Santos and Many others who have spoken Out.

On another post, Veejay is hopeful the meeting will bring something good to everyone:

“What happened to me last night was very sad. I still can’t believe that some people still think transgenders as crossdressers. We should not dehumanize people because of their decisions to be themselves. I want this to change. Let’s hope that the meeting next week will give a positive outcome for everyone.”
