Tito Sotto clarifies ‘victim-shaming’ remark on “Eat Bulaga’

Senator Tito Sotto defended the controversial comment he made on the noontime variety show ‘Eat Bulaga’ after it drew outrage from netizens on social media which prompted an MTRCB inquiry on the July 9 episode with show’s executives.

According to Sen. Sotto in his interview on TV 5’s Aksyon Tonite, he only meant that a woman should not drink with men other than her husband.

“It was a simple reaction saying that a married lady should not be out at night having shots [or drinking] with men other than her husband,” the senator said.

Last July 11, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) sent a letter calling the ‘Eat Bulaga’ executives for a conference over Sotto’s remarks which were “alleged to be insensitive to women.”
