To honor her contributions that made major impact in the music industry, the Academy of Country Music Awards gave international singing sensation Taylor Swift the Milestone Award last April 19, 2015 during its celebration of its 50th year.
The mother of Taylor, Andrea Finlay, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, presented the award to her daughter.
Andrea gave an emotional speech narrating Taylor’s journey to success, starting from when she was a young teen. “It’s my pleasure, my pride and my joy, to introduce my daughter,” said Andrea before handing out the award to Taylor.

Taylor then shared how grateful she is to have learned from her country heroes because they taught her kindness and respect; leading her to the artist she has become today.
“To the country music community, when I told you that I had made a pop album and that I wanted to go explore other genres, you showed me who you are with the grace that you accepted that with. I will never forget it,” Taylor uttered during her speech.
“I’m so unbelievably proud that I learned to treat people with kindness and respect from country music,” the singer added.
