Supreme Court rules in favor of Marcos burial

In a historic decision, Supreme Court ruled by a 9-5 vote on Tuesday that the former President Ferdinand Marcos has the right to be buried in the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (LNMB).

In a radio report on DZBB 594, the SC Justices who ruled in favor were as follow: Associate Justices Arturo Brion, Presbitero Velasco Jr, Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Mariano del Castillo, Jose Perez, Teresita de Castro, Jose Mendoza, and Estela Perlas-Bernabe.

The SC Justices with dissent opinions include Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, together with Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, and Associate Justices Marvic Leonen, Francis Jardaleza, and Caguioa.

Furthermore, The Supreme Court junked seven petition cases that challenged the ruling to allow Marcos burial in LNMB. The petitioners argued that the ruling was against with law.

In a statement, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. thanked the supreme court for its ruling.
