The Department of National Defense (DND) issued a memorandum instructing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to prepare the interment of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).
The memo is in connection with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to have the former President interred at LNMB.
During his speech in Davao, President Duterte said being a former soldier and former President, Marcos is qualfied to be buried in LNMB.
“As a former soldier and former President of the Philippines, I see nothing wrong in having Marcos buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani,” said President Duterte.
The DND memo reads:
“In compliance to the verbal order of the President to implement his election campaign promise to have the remains of the late former President Ferdinand E. Marcos be interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, kindly undertake the necessary planning and preparations to facilitate the coordination of all agencies concerned specially the provisions for ceremonial and security requirements. Coordinate closely with the Marcos family regarding the date of interment and the transport of the late former President’s remains from Ilocos Norte to the LNMB.
