K-pop group accuses DOH of plagiarism

The Department of Health or DOH released a music video that aims to prevent teen pregnancy in our country.

The advocacy video by the DOH now faces an accusation of plagiarism with the music used in it.

The Korean music label, S.M. Entertainment, has threatened to take action against the DOH for its alleged unauthorized adaptation of “Rum Pum Pum Pum”, a 2013 hit single by the K-Pop all-girl group f(x).

“The original publisher of ‘Rum Pum Pum Pum’ confirmed that the music used by the Philippines’ public service campaign in question is indeed plagiarism, so we already started taking action,” stated by the said Korean music label on the Korean website No Cut News.

Besides the accusation for plagiarism, the advocacy video that shows the negative effects of premarital sex and teenage pregnancy also received a lot of criticism due to how it labeled the characters involved.
