Jaya opens up about family issues during her late mother’s burial

Months after her late mother, Elizabeth Ramsey’s passing in October 2015, Philippines’ Queen of Soul Jaya Ramsey-Gotidoc opened up about the issue concerning her mother’s burial plans.

In an interview with the Kapuso singer-actress on Wednesday (February 16, 2016) during the press conference of her upcoming GMA7 series “Poor Señorita,” Jaya expressed her thoughts on the issue involving her and her relatives.

According to the Queen of Soul, she and her relatives had a misunderstanding while planning the burial of her mother who passed away on October 8, 2016. Jaya said that her relatives wanted to have a traditional wake and burial while she opted for a cremation because of practical reasons.

“Of all the years, always against my plans. Sabi ko, ‘Teka, di tayo mayaman. ‘Pag ‘yan na-tsugs (namatay), ano gagawin natin? Nganganga tayo? May pera ba kayo?’ (I) planned everything, no one wanted my plan.”

Jaya added that after multiple attempts of explaining the reason why she opted for a simple commemoration of her mother’s death, her relatives did not listen to her and still pushed through with their plans.
