The Philippines is again beaming with pride and joy as Filipina Olympian weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz captured the silver medal at the women’s 53kg category in weightlifting at the Rio Olympics 2016.
The last time the Philippines got an Olympic medal was when boxer Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco bagged the silver in the Atlanta Olympic back in 1996.
Hidilyn lifted a total of 200 kilograms to finish second behind gold medalist Hsu Shu-Ching of Chinese Taipei.
