Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz clarified her comment about Philippine bet Maxine Medina having a small chance of winning this year’s Miss Universe.
In an Interview with ABS-CBN news program TV Patrol, the beauty queen said it will be scandalous if Medina wins the crown since the pageant is hosted by the Philippines.

“We’re the host. Parang can you imagine if we make our representative win? Eh ‘di magwawala lahat ng candidates and also their countries, their ambassadors? And they would all think that we are unfair,” she said to ABS-CBN News.
“Even if our candidate deserves it, it will be a shock. It will be a one-in-a-million chance… Tayong mga Filipinos, the last thing we should hope for is for our own candidate to win.”
