Pinoy Big Brother’s (PBB’s) resident psychologist for ten years Dr. Randy Dellosa explained the unusual closeness between the ‘Astig Athlete of Quezon City’ Kenzo Gutierrez and ‘Global Gwapito of UK’ Bailey Thomas May as photos of their ‘bromance’ goes viral on social media.
Host Toni Gonzaga-Soriano first asked about the definition of “Bromance”. According to Dr. Dellosa, it could be defined by its rootword – ‘brother’ and ‘romance’. He explained that it is brotherly affection or brotherly love thus, there is no malice between the two male housemates.
“It’s a deep friendship,” he added.

Furthermore he said, “Iba ang backgrounds nila. Like for instance, silang dalawa ay unico ijo. They are the only sons. Of course, there is the natural longing na magka-brother sila. The other thing is, si Bailey, s’ya ang the youngest child. Malaking bulas s’ya but he’s actually a kid. ‘Yung lambing na pinapakita nya, it was same na paglalambing na pinapakita n’ya sa parents.”
When asked if it is normal for boys to be ‘touchy’, Dr. Dellosa answered, “Maraming klaseng touch eh. Touchy naman ang mga boys. May touch na harutan. Sa mga atleta, may yakapan and they even kissed each other.”
Dr. Dellosa also stated that this phenomenon inside the PBB house might help viewers to understand that it is alright for men to show affection. He also said that it might help Filipinos to be aware that gender expectations are changing.
