Taylor Swift leads Forbes’ list of highest paid celebrities for 2016

Country songstress turned pop diva Taylor Swift lands the top spot in Forbes magazine’s Celebrity 100 list of highest paid celebrities, earning 170 million dollars, doubling her last year’s figure which was 80 million dollars.

The 26-year-old singer owes her huge digits to her 1989 World Tour. according to Forbes. The tour, with sold-out shows at 5 million dollars per night, smashed The Rolling Stones North American touring record, “grossing $200 million on the continent en route to quarter of a billion dollars in total for the tour,” Forbes magazine wrote.

Although Taylor’s income is a far cry from Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s 300 million dollars last year after the ‘Fight of the Century’ against Manny Pacquiao, she surpassed last year’s highest-paid musician Katy Perry who boasted 135 million dollars last year.

Coming at the next spot is British boyband One Direction with 110 million dollars despite their hiatus and Zayn Malik’s departure. Best-selling author James Patterson secures the third spot with 95 million dollars while Portuguese football star and Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo and television personality Dr. Phil McGraw snag finish the top 5 with 88 million dollars each.
