Fr. Daniel Estacio, one of the six exorcists in the Archdiocese of Manila called the attention of the producers and writers of GMA 7’s television series “Pari Koy” with regards to an episode concering “exorcism”.
Fr. Daniel was referring to an episode where Fr. Kokoy (played by actor Dingdong Dantes) performed an exorcism, while talking with the evil spirit: “Maawa ka na sa kanya… Ibalik mo na siya sa kanyang ina.”
“The episode sends a wrong message that we can plead with the demon, as if it has mercy and compassion. This is very misleading. When a priest-exorcist performs an exorcism and expelling demons, he is not and should not make a plea or request the demon to leave but rather command the demon or evil spirit with authority using the name of Jesus.” said Fr. Daniel.
Fr. Daniel said “Pari Koy” producers and writers should ask the help of a priest as their consultant or adviser so that they would be properly guided, especially on Church teachings.
