Pop superstar George Michael dies at 53

The man who popularized the song ‘Careless Whisper’ has died on Christmas Day in Goring, Oxfordshire. His manager, Michael Lippman, said he had died of heart failure. He was 53. George started his career with the group ‘Wham.’

Former Wham partner Andrew Ridgeley said he was “heartbroken at the loss of my beloved friend”. Andrew tweeted the following:

“Heartbroken at the loss of my beloved friend Yog. Me, his loved ones, his friends, the world of music, the world at large. 4ever loved. A xx”

Here is the official statement released by his publicist:

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

George was known for his songs like ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go”, “Careless Whisper”, “Faith”, “Father Figure”, “Kissing A Fool”, “Last Christmas” and a lot more.
