Ogie Alcasid to leave as OPM President, eyes Yael Yuzon as successor

After serving as the president of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) for six consecutive years, singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid thinks it’s already time to pass the baton—and he is eyeing Spongecola’s Yael Yuzon as his successor.

“Six years na ako, so panahon na [for a new president]. Alam mo yon, marami akong sinakripisyo diyan, so gusto kong magtrabaho din. Tanggap naman nila na gusto ko na mag-move on,” he explained.

“Happy ako sa tinakbo ng OPM. We had our problems, alam mo naman ‘yan, ang unang challenge ay ‘yung paghanap ng pondo. Awa ng Diyos, naka-survive kami at nakagawa ng proyekto. Nabigyan naman namin ‘yung mga nangangailangan, like ‘yung mga namatayan, kung may health or legal issues, natutugunan naman namin ‘yon,” Ogie added.
