After 6 years playing Elena Gilbert, the enticingly beautiful heroine of Mystic Falls, and capturing the hearts of brother Stefan and Damon Salvatore, lead actress and “The Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev will leave the show at the end of season 6.
Nina Dobrev announced on Monday afternoon on her Instagram account the she is leaving the hit CW series. “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six-season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime.”, shared Nina. she also thanks her fans for all the support. “You, the wonderful fandom who gave more love, support and passion than anyone could have ever imagined seven years ago,”

‘The Vampire Diaries’ executive producer Julie Plec released an official statement, stating they “will miss Nina and the four hundred characters she played, but we look forward to the insane and exciting challenge of continuing to tell stories of our Salvatore Brothers and our much-loved and gifted ensemble.” Plec also said that they support Nina’s decision a thousand-fold.
The series is scheduled to appear for a seventh-season, and with Elena Gilbert’s character departing the series, will the fans still sink their teeth to The Vampire Diaries?
