Melissa Mendez explains her side of the story over offloading incident

Melissa Mendez was in tears while explaining what really transpired that resulted of her being offloaded from Cebu Pacific flight 5J711 enroute to Mindanao.

The passengers that Melissa had an altercation with was identified as Andrew Wolff and Rey Pamaran. In his Instagram account: Rey posted the following:

“Upon getting to my reserved seat 1A actress Melissa Mendez was seated there. She was politely asked to transfer to row 2 because that seat was already reserved. She immediately flared up and caused a big scene, shouting invectives at me and cursing me left and right.”

In an interiew with ABS-CBN, Melissa said Ray taunted and bullied her. According to Melissa, Ray uttered many offensive and degrading things and even threatened to hurt her with a bag which led to her slapping Ray.

After the plane had taken off, Melissa said she asked the flight stewardess if she can talk to Andrew and Rey to clear things up.

Melissa said Rey accussed her of having a bad breath. Andrew in his Instagram account posted the following:

“She smelled like a beer brewery! She punched my friend and the flight attendants and had to be restrained!”

Melissa denied reports that she was drunk. She admitted that she is on a juice diet that is mixture of beetroot, papaya, pineapple and watermelon.

“First of all, I was not drunk. I don’t even drink alcohol, Second, I have been on a juice diet for several months now. It was possible that what they smelled on my breath was the juice that I drank before leaving the house that morning. It was a mixture of beetroot, papaya, pineapple and watermelon. I didn’t take in any alcoholic drink.” explains Melissa.

Rey denied Melissa’s explanation and stood by his story.

Melissa also sends her apologies to the other passengers of Cebu Pacific for any inconvience the commotion had caused them.

Cebu Pacific confirmed that the said incident really happen and issued the following statements:

“Cebu Pacific flight 5J 771 Manila-Pagadian returned to Manila shortly after take off today, March 20, 2015. The flight returned to Manila due to a reported unruly passenger. The unruly passenger was offloaded from the flight. The flight departed Manila at 9:20AM and arrived at 10:37am in Pagadian on the same day. CEB is coordinating with authorities regarding the incident.”

“Under the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2008, it is illegal to behave in a manner that is threatening to crew members and passengers. Anyone who violates the law will be intercepted by the police upon landing. Anyone found guilty of violating the law may be liable for a fine of up to Php 500,000 and/or 3 years of imprisonment.”

Rey said he will file legal actions against Melissa.
