Maria Isabel Lopez’s drivers license revoked, gets fined Php 8,000

Former beauty queen and actress Maria Isabel Lopez has been punished by The Land Transportation Office (LTO) after she violated the special ASEAN lane for delagates during the recent summit.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, it has been decided that her driving license is revoked. According to MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago, Lopez is forbidden from applying and reacquiring her license for the next 2 years. Adding that, the former beauty queen must also pay an Php 8,000 fine for reckless driving, disregarding traffic signs, and violation of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act.

Lopez’s lawyer, Sol Taule also reacted to the decision, stating they will file “necessary remedy for the reconsideration of the LTO’s decision.”

Adding, “We reiterate that revocation is too harsh a penalty for a first time offender like her.”
