Manny Pacquiao is now a one-star general

He started with boxing, he entered showbizness, he became a politician and now the People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao becomes a general.

The honorary rank of Commodore from the Philippine Coast Guard [PCG] was given to Manny last December 17, 2014. Commodore George Ursabia, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard [PCG] in Southeastern Mindanao, granted Manny the honorary rank in his installation as part of the PCG Auxiliary [PCGA].

The rank given to him is equivalent to a “one-star general” in the Armed Forces of the Philippines [AFP].

Manny Pacquiao is now a Lieutenant Colonel in the AFP’s Reserve Force.

The PCGA is a maritime non-government organization; it operates under the Department of Transportation and Communications of the Philippines specifically under the Philippine Coast Guard. It involves in assisting enforcement of maritime laws in the country, especially the promotion of Maritime Safety as well as the protection of the marine environment.
