The grand champion for ‘The Voice Kids’ Lyca Gairanod and runner up Darren Espanto will be singing for the 5 day visit of Pope Francis here in our country.
Lyca will be performing during Pope Francis’ meeting with families on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay. She will sing her own version of the theme song from the 1995 World Youth Day, during the visit of Pope Saint John Paul II in Manila.
The gathering of families will highlight the experiences of those who live in poverty, those whose members are working overseas and those caring for persons with disabilities.
While Darren, with the same song, was chosen to perform on January 18, 2015 during Pope Francis’ encounter with the youths at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
“Not everyone gets to be that close to the Pope and be able to sing for him” Darren shared with ABS-CBN news.
“To me, he is a symbol of kindness. He is a very humble person and he spreads his message of mercy and compassion to others” he added.
