Lea Salonga shares her opinion over non-singers having music albums

The discussion about lip syncing and non-singers having their own music albums continues. Rhap Salazar tweeted that he personally hates seeing artists lip syncing on TV and having their own albums.

Artists like Gary Valenciano, Vice Ganda, Lea Salonga and host Boy Abunda gave their opinion regarding the said issue.

Lea Salonga tweeted the following:

– Heto na naman. Ang sabi ko, CASE TO CASE. There are times na kelangang mag-lip sync. Sports events, shows where background noise is loud.

– However, pag hindi naman kelangan, puwede ba?! Real singers under normal circumstances should not lip sync. Listen muna before judging.

– In the last 25 years, I can count maybe 2-3 times when I’ve had to lip sync, no choice. The rest, totoong boses ko na live. Like on ASAP.

– In a concert with a live band and orchestra, your voice had better show up (which is what I told @mjfelipe). Small band, you’d better sing.

– But when your magic carpet is placed on a fork lift truck, or you’re rising on a windy tower, what choice do you have? Aber, sige nga!

– Ang problema kasi, minsan, ang daming mapanghusga. But all I said was case to case. Please hear the whole case before passing judgment.

– Wide awake, so I’ll tweet some more. @rhapsalazar had another point, his frustration at non-singers releasing albums (minsan, platinum).

– In an ideal world, albums would only be released by actual living and breathing singers. Period. But we don’t live in an ideal world.

– Should I begrudge a non-singer for releasing an album? I say no. But I sure as hell won’t buy it, promote it, recommend it, or listen to it.

– So perhaps the change to the marketplace needs to come from the consumers, to stop the demand for non-singers’ albums. #LawOfSupplyAndDemand

– Non-singers lip syncing on TV isn’t anything new, at all. But back then, no albums. They spared us by not selling their non-singing.
