Every culture and every race has different beliefs or traditions that are important for it shows honor and respect to their ancestors.
Actor Richard Yap is married to a Filipina; at first the actor expected that being in a relationship with her wife, Melody, would be an issue with his traditional Chinese parents because, as per Chinese tradition, they prefer if he would end up with someone who is a Chinese too.
Richard then chose fight for his love and to fight for melody so he decided to be on his own. Melody is the love of his life, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
“I didn’t go into the family business [a rice and corn plus shipping and lumberyard ventures]. I went on my own and proved myself,” he said during the formal opening of the Wangfu Chinese Bistro at UP Town Center, which he owns with Lester Pimentel Ong and Ace Wang.
The more days he spends with his wife, Melody, the more he realized that she is indeed an ideal partner who brings out the best of him as a husband. Melody never stopped believing in him and supported him all throughout his ventures as a businessman, an actor and as an endorser.
His parent’s objection then to his marriage to a Filipina all changed because Richard proved that he is right from the very start – Melody will stnad by his side. Indeed, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, and in richer or for poorer, they will be together no matter what happen.
