Actor Cesar Montano was charged by the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office with physical abuse for violating RA 9262 or Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act. Cesar was charged on three separate occasions in July 2009, January 2013 and May 12, 2013.
The court said actress Sunshine Cruz who filed the case against ex-husband Cesar Montano was able to produce the necessary evidence to prove that indeed Cesar physically abused Sunshine at least in three ocassions during their marriage.

Sunshine accuses Cesar as being a domineering and philandering husband. Sunshine added that she was physically and verbally abused by Cesar and even raped her. But the court dismissed the rape charges against Cesar because of lack of evidence.
Sunshine filed the case last 2013. A bail of P12,000 for each count was recommended for the temporary liberty of Cesar Montano.
